I wanted to reach out and share some feedback for the Maldives trip because it was simply the best surf trip of my life. Not sure where to begin so I’ll try to lay it all out!
The amigas crew: Bean, Megan, Leila and Nat were the most amazing amigas! So encouraging, positive, accommodating and always making sure we were having the best time.
The travel S/A crew: Felipe and Luana treated us like family and were such a good combo to the amigas crew. They really worked well as a team and simply provided the best experience. They know what they’re doing and exceeded my expectations! They were also always on time and everything ran according to the schedule which I greatly appreciated. Daniel, the photographer, captured the most beautiful shots of all us surfing and was working nonstop to give us the best footage.
The boat crew: holy shit. Where do I begin?! The boat overall was AWESOME! The chef provided the best diversity of delicious food. Ali always found us the best waves to please everyone’s surfing levels. The crew was constantly cleaning the boat; from making our beds to emptying our trash bins twice a day. The highlight of this trip was the BBQ they did for us where they created a dining experience on a tiny island. They raked the island, created sand-shaped whale and manta ray, set up tables with little lights above us and the chef made delicious food followed by a bonfire. Mindblown. It was so so so sweet!
Experiences: We got so lucky with the beautiful weather and great conditions! The surf on day 1 and 2 was awesome! I really wanted to feel comfortable surfing bigger waves and Jails and Sultans was such great practice. I wish we could have stayed there and kept on surfing those breaks. The sessions at Quarters and the other place we went to were fun but they were just a bit small. I think the challenge of this trip is that there were a lot of amigas with different levels of surfing so the crew/instructors found smaller waves to accommodate everyone which I fully respect. But if I’m going to the Maldives I really want to surf bigger waves that allow me to practice more challenging conditions. So it would be really cool if they in the future they break up the weeks according to different surfing levels. I only had shortboards with me and I felt SO LUCKY that Felipe lent me a bigger fish to surf on and then had access to a foamie on a tiny day. Overall I had a blast with the surf and we made the most of it with the conditions we had.
Another highlight of the trip was diving with sharks! I’ve always been terrified of them but the amigas and boat crew were so encouraging and made me feel so safe. It was such a beautiful and meditative experience!
Overall 9/10 experience and would highly recommend this trip to my girlfriends! Thank you so much for creating this location with SWA. It was a dream come true and I am beyond grateful for joining this trip.
Much love,
Patchi.
